Puppy Introduction

Ideal for Puppies from 11 weeks old (2½ months) to 26 weeks old (6 months) old.

Puppy grooms start from 11 weeks old (2½ months), your puppy must be fully vaccinated. We recommend that we meet them as early as 2 weeks after their final vaccinations. Puppy grooms need to be kept on a regular schedule of every 4 weeks and continue until 26 weeks old (6 months) , at which point their final puppy groom will take place. After this, your dog will move onto our adult pricing.

As your puppy grows and attends regular grooms, we will assess their size and coat type to determine the most appropriate category for future appointments.

What is included in a Puppy Introduction?

Our Puppy Introductions are not a full groom. They are a gentle 15–20 minute introduction session designed to help your puppy become familiar with the grooming environment in a calm, positive way.

During this session, your puppy will:

Explore the salon at their own pace

Experience new sights, smells, and sounds

Enjoy gentle play, praise, and treats

Sit in the bath (without being washed)

Be gently introduced to grooming equipment and the sound of dryers

This early exposure helps your puppy feel safe and confident, making their first full groom a much more positive experience. To give your puppy the best possible start, we recommend continuing with regular puppy grooms every 4 weeks until around 6 months of age. By this stage, your puppy’s adult coat will begin to come through, and they will be ready to move on to their first adult groom.

Supporting your puppy at home

Alongside professional grooming introductions, it is strongly recommended that owners continue gentle handling and training at home.

This includes:

Daily light brushing

Handling paws when your puppy is relaxed

Gently checking inside ears

Running a spoon around the face to help them become comfortable with objects near their eyes

Always use positive reinforcement, such as praise (“good boy” or “good girl”), high-value treats, or play with a favourite toy. For longer-coated breeds such as Cockapoos, Poodles, Westies, and Yorkies, it is especially helpful to get puppies used to having their chin hair gently held. This allows face and eye trimming to be carried out safely and comfortably during professional grooming.
